Cross Country Team
On October 31, the Whittier Dual Language Cross Country Team, performed with heart in the city tournament. At the City Finals in Washington Park and our runners did great. Jose (7th grade) finished in 8th place (out of the best 7th and 8gh graders 100 runners of the City) Christopher, 6th grade, finished 19 on the 5th and 6th grade division. Alejandro qualified to the finals but couldn’t make it due to an injury.Orlando Rodriguez was the team coach. Belated Thanks!
Impressive Showing by Cross Country Runners at City Finals
The Whittier School Cross Country ended the season with a impressive showing at the City Finals.
Whittier School cross country runners came across the tape in 6th and 8th place out of 50 runners in the 5/6 City Finals Race. One of our seventh graders placed a respectable 30th place out of 50 runners in the 7/8th grade race. Special thanks to their coach and gym teacher, Orlando Rodriguez. Si Se Puede!
Whittier School Cross Country Team Excel at Area Meet on Friday
Three of our students placed 4th, 5th and 16th in a field of one hundred runners in the 5th/6th grade one mile race at Horner Park on the North Side. One of our seventh grade students finished 23rd out of about 90 runners in the 7th/8th grade mile and half race. Our coach Orlando Rodriguez was very proud of the effort of our runners. Mr. Segal and Mr. Trigueros supported our runners. City finals are next. The meet will be held on Saturday, November 1st!!!
